Enthralled in a new way of expressing self, a youth creates her weyr of dragons

This stencil was made by a youth at a 2016 IndigenEYEZ camp in Ashnola who loves dragons and wolves.. She had never had the chance to make a stencil before and said she was going to make a Star Dragon, and a Sun Dragon, and a Moon Dragon! We thought she might need to start slower but she was determined. She made three stencils, and cut and silkscreened two, giving hazel the third. She said she would not be allowed to have a blade to cut it out in her foster home.

She was super-focused and engaged, with a surprising discipline and a great attitude toward participating in the group. Moon Dragon was the first of her three stencils, and the result was encouraging enough to help her keep going!

I love how the dragon’s spine comes around to complete the circle.
